Amer believes that the development and utilization of digital tools that facilitate the measurement of the environmental and social performance of our cities is fundamental to urban sustainability. He is actively supporting this agenda through his extensive experience in city planning and design.

Over the last year, he has collaborated with in-house architects, planners and urban designers on a paper that examines the role of planning and governance in improving the quality of life of citizens in major cities. The study also explores how Big Data can be used for to ensure social equity through civic infrastructure investments.
Most recently, Amer has been advising the public sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the planning and implementation of Vision 2030 initiatives focused on quality-of-life improvements. Amer is focused on growing AECOM’s team of urban planning professionals in the Kingdom while maintaining a center of excellence in UAE. Amer believes that, while COVID-19 brought to us personal and professional challenges, the future is for cities, communities and businesses that are focused on wellness, resilience, and adaptability.
